We were invited to attend the opening concert on August 1st and we can tell you first hand... this venue is AMAZING! The 14 month wait and $12.9million public/private partnership solidified a future of good music in Ponte Vedra Beach. GRAMMY award-winning bluegrass artists Dan Tyminski performed and the sound in the house is stellar! We taste tested some of the drinks in partnership with St. Augustine Distillery - we love that they are keeping it local AND the cocktails were delicious (try the hibiscus one!) The indoor outdoor bar was an amazing architectural choice, and there is upstairs outdoor seating, as well.
BUT, the BIGGEST SURPRISE was that there is a Kookaburra Coffee open to the public 7-5pm daily! Say what?! New local coffee shop in Ponte Vedra Beach?! We love the live music venue, but we may love the new coffee shop addition more... or it is a close tie!

Nestled along A1A in the heart of Ponte Vedra Beach, the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall is more than a music venue, it’s a lively chapter in our region’s cultural story. From its roots as a humble church to its transformation into a modern concert bastion, here’s a deep dive into its rich past and exciting future.
From Parish to Performance Space
1980: The journey began when Palm Valley Baptist Church erected a 17,330 sq ft wood-beam auditorium at 1050 A1A North.
2002: The property passed into the hands of New Beginnings Baptist Church, which would later outgrow it.
2006: Seeing potential beyond worship, St. Johns County purchased the building and adjacent land for approximately $9.2 million.
2009-2011: A thoughtful retrofit began in 2009, overlaying the needs of a concert venue atop the church’s structure. On February 13, 2011, folk-rock band Great Big Sea kicked off the inaugural month alongside acts like Leon Redbone and The B-52s.

Stepping Up: Renovations & the “Elevate” Vision
Early Enhancements (2018-2020)
2018: The Friends of PVCH donated $50,000 for a charming 925 sq ft outdoor terrace.
2020: Lighting was upgraded and the “Elevate” campaign launched to further reinvest in the space.
Major Overhaul (2022-2025)
June 2022: St. Johns County commissioners unanimously approved $5.4 million, adding to pledged fundraising, to support the full renovation.
May 1, 2024: The hall officially closed for a year, embarking on a roughly $10-10.7 million transformation.

What’s New? The $10.7 Million Makeover
Funded through a partnership between St. Johns County and the grassroots advocacy group Friends of the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, this renovation carries a $10.7 million budget. The ambitious redesign by Fisher Koppenhafer creates a state-of-the-art, comfortable, and versatile venue. Highlights include:
A second-floor balcony and stadium-style seating on the first floor for versatility and comfort.
Expanded capacity, up to 25% more patrons (from roughly 900 to roughly 1,200.).
Multiple outdoor terraces on both levels for pre- and post-show relaxation.
A 50 kW L‑Acoustics audio system, upgraded lighting and projection, and an expanded stage area.
Fresh amenities: modern restrooms, larger lobby, merch shop, enhanced concessions (including a coffee outpost), flexible meeting space, and improved parking and landscaping.
Open Doors to a New Era
August 1, 2025: The newly revamped venue will officially reopen with a show by Grammy-winning Dan Tyminski Band, followed by performances from Melissa Etheridge and Steep Canyon Rangers.
Beyond concerts, the enhanced hall aims to host more community events, corporate functions, weddings, and educational programs.
Why It Matters
Ponte Vedra Concert Hall has always been a crown jewel of North Florida’s cultural scene. With this renovation:
Acoustic excellence meets modern comfort, a rare combo in intimate venues.
Economic impact expected to rise, with more tourism from the venue bringing guests to local hotels, restaurants, and shops.
Local pride intact: sacred beams remain in this world-class performance space where every seat is as promised, “a great seat”.
Final Note
From its roots as a community church to becoming a modern prime-time concert destination, the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall illustrates how cultural vision plus community love can transform public spaces. As it readies to open its doors in August, it carries the warmth of its history and the promise of bigger, more vibrant performances into its next "stanza."
